Keeping in theme with our previous \u201cpodcast about podcasts\u201d, we made a video essay about video essays\u2013 specifically about the culture surrounding the very lengthy ones. We speculate on why they exist, why they\u2019re so popular, and provide personal anecdotes about experiences with them\u2013 and if they\u2019re even \u201cessays\u201d at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While I iterated on the image project, and we rerecorded our audio project, we decided to keep the Visual Project the way it is. While there was definitely room for improvement, time and technological constraints prevented us from being able to rework it completely&#8211; notably, I lost some of the project files, so reworking my segment would have taken a lot of editing effort for a project I&#8217;m ultimately decently comfortable with submitting as-is. Additionally, the reworked Audio Project reflects a lot of the changes we&#8217;d like to have made with this one (e.g. making the audio more conversational).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We decided it was best to allocate our resources and energy into improving our audio and image projects. I&#8217;m comfortable taking this expense considering the fact both of us, having also taken Video Production this semester, <em>have <\/em>higher quality examples of visual\/editing works in our respective portfolios to fill in for this&#8211; in particular, my video production assignment is active<em> <\/em>in my portfolio on my site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For my Digital Creativity Visual Project, I worked with Oliver Brown.
